More details
Contact us about the Graduate Diploma
The 10680NAT Graduate Diploma of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound (General Discipline) course is a full time course of 2 years duration that incorporates face to face teaching as well as clinical placement in a medical imaging practice. This course is fully accredited by the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) and the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) as a Level 8 Graduate Diploma qualification. Successful completion of this course will enable you to register with the ASAR as an accredited medical sonographer.

As a full time student you will complete an initial 20 weeks of campus based training at our St Leonards campus in Sydney to learn the basics of performing an ultrasound examination. The following 20 weeks of the first year places you in a clinical imaging practice where you will fine tune your basic skills and knowledge of general ultrasound imaging.

Second year brings you back to campus for 2 blocks of 2 weeks for advanced imaging studies as well as an additional 36 weeks in a clinical imaging practice to increase your level of scanning competency to become a valuable member of the sonographic team.

Whilst undertaking clinical placement you will also be engaged in additional studies via our online learning platform with a variety of theoretical and practical assessments undertaken on a regular basis to ensure your skills are improving throughout the duration of the course. There is an increasing complexity of knowledge and skills learnt as the course progresses to ensure you become a competent diagnostic medical sonographer.
