WHAT YOU NEED 
You can apply if you are:
  • an Australian citizen
  • an Australian permanent resident
  • a holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa, or
  • a New Zealand citizen
Essential entry requirements
Entrants to the Graduate Diploma will be required to be over 18 years of age and have:
1. Completed one of the following qualifications:
  • ​Bachelor Degree in Medical Imaging Science (Radiography or Nuclear Medicine).; or
  • Bachelor Degree in a non-imaging medical science (Health related); or
  • Bachelor Degree in a non-health related science followed by a Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance*.
  • Advanced Diploma, Diploma, or higher level vocational certificate in the field of Medical Imaging.
​2. At least three months experience dealing directly with patients in a healthcare facility.
3. The ability to work in Australia.
4. Literacy levels equivalent to IELTS7 Academic sufficient to be able to interpret complex documents, prepare written reports and interpret scans.

If you are accepted:
Police check, current immunisation and working with children check to enable clinical workplace training (this is needed if you are accepted into the course but not required to apply)



NOTE
This course exposes students to challenging, emotionally confronting situations within the health industry. It requires students who have sufficient maturity, empathy and work/life experience to provide professional support services within organisational and regulatory requirements.
Students are required to read and interpret lengthy reports and prepare written information for health care professionals. They will also be required to enter and retrieve data from ultrasound equipment.
It is important that students seeking entry to this course undergo an interview to determine their suitability to working in this industry and whether they understand the skills and knowledge required to meet industry standards.

3. You'll receive an email after we ensure you have met the criteria.. You will be notified if        further information is required.

 If deemed eligible, you will be asked to to attend an interview via Zoom or in person.        We do require applicants to bring a short (max 500 words) essay on "Why I want to          be a sonographer". The interview is intended to assess your suitability to the                        profession and for you to understand more about our organisation.
5. If you are accepted, students
 will be required to have ALL of the following
  • Registration to practise with the ASAR 
  • A valid working with children check PLUS A Police check
  • Current immunization.

Australian Institute of Healthcare Education is required to collect personal information about you and to disclose that personal information to the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER).

- Issuing statements of attainment or qualification, and populating authenticated VET transcripts;

- understanding how the VET market operates, for policy, workforce planning and consumer information; and
- administering VET, including programme administration, regulation, monitoring and evaluation. You may receive an NCVER student survey which may be administered by an NCVER employee, agent or third party contractor. You may opt out of the survey at the time of being contacted.
The NCVER will collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the NVETR Act. Your personal information may be used and disclosed by NCVER for purposes that include populating authenticated VET transcripts; administration of VET; facilitation of statistics and research relating to education, including surveys and data linkage; and understanding the VET market.
The NCVER is authorised to disclose information to the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE), Commonwealth authorities, State and Territory authorities (other than registered training organisations) that deal with matters relating to VET and VET regulators for the purposes of those bodies, including to enable:
​- administration of VET, including program administration, regulation, monitoring and evaluation
- facilitation of statistics and research relating to education, including surveys and data linkage
- understanding how the VET market operates, for policy, workforce planning and consumer information.
The NCVER may also disclose personal information to persons engaged by NCVER to conduct research on NCVER’s behalf.
The NCVER does not intend to disclose your personal information to any overseas recipients.
