Work based practical learning
Students are placed in Clinical Imaging Centres to practice their skills during their course of study.
Clinical Placements are in NSW, VIC, NT, QLD and are offered only under strict conditions.
Graduates often placed after the course
Students who are proactive in their learning and show adaptation, professionalism and a can do attitude are often asked to stay after they graduate with the clinic they attended.
NOTE: These may vary in terms of timing, amount of time and dependent on certain conditions within the clinical practice and offers are made based on criteria.
Placements are limited and so therefore students who refuse the placement offered, will not be given a second opportunity.
Students may be placed in a location away from family and this must be considered,
(See Clinical Placement Policy for more information)
Expectations of students in maintaining study
During this time, students are expected to maintain studies, research, portfolios & be proactive in their approach to learning whilst on Clinical Placement.
COVID & CLINICAL PLACEMENTS
Due to COVID-19, some Clinical Placements have not been able to continue which may impact a student's length of study. This is beyond our control and we are working with Clinics to place students asap. Please be patient with us during this time
The minimum time to complete this course is 24 months.
The majority of students complete all course requirements within 24-36 months, however there is no guarantee that students will complete the course within this time frame during COVID or due to the factors as indicated below. Completion is contingent on many factors, including:
-The availability of clinical placements at any given point in time
-Successful completion of all academic requirements
-Successful completion of all clinical requirements
-Students requesting to defer for a period of time, or to complete clinical placement hours in a less than full time capacity
AIHE will find a student ONE (1) clinical placement - this may be Australia wide. In the event a placement is terminated due to poor performance on the students behalf you will be required to source your own placement.
