WHERE IS IT LOCATED?
The course is delivered at our campus at St Leonards as well as at a variety of clinical ultrasound sites.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) may be applied for if an applicant has already studied with a nationally recognized education provider, or has work experience which is directly relevant to this course. RPL may help gain entry to, or exempt an applicant from some of this course.
The 10680NAT Graduate Diploma of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound (General Discipline) is a nationally and industry accredited course in Diagnostic Ultrasound.
It specifically addresses the needs of the student Sonographer to obtain practical and theoretical ultrasound scanning skills prior to entering the clinical workplace.
PRACTICAL & THEORY BASED
AIHE will allocate students to one or more appropriate clinical sites to ensure they receive a comprehensive exposure to a variety of general ultrasound imaging studies.
Entry to these is dependent on
1. Successful completion of simulated ultrasound examinations at AIHE and the corresponding underpinning theoretical knowledge.
2. Students acceptance of the site which is negotiated with both the clinics and the students-not all sites are suitable for every student and students must note that placements may be at a number of locations across Australia. Students MUST be prepared to travel to these sites at their own cost (eg NT, WA, QLD, VIC, SA) once they are placed.
As students’ progress through the course the number of hours allocated to the clinical workplace increases significantly so that they can consolidate their theoretical knowledge through real workplace clinical placement.
